What is unique about your removal company?

PolderVerhuizingen specialises in thinking along with the customer. For us, moving is a profession, and we enjoy practising that profession. We put all our professional knowledge at the service of the customer. All the experience we have built up over the years is at your disposal. We continue to grow and, where necessary, improve. We want to deliver good work with (certified) movers who enjoy their work. In doing so, the customer remains our focus. What makes the move exciting or difficult for a customer, where is the stress? We recognise this before it occurs and then assist our customers with advice and action. That is what makes us unique.

What do you like about working in the removals industry?

The atmosphere among removal companies is quite good. But there is a lot of competition. That keeps us on our toes, and that's what we like about working in the removals industry. Nothing is given to us for free; we just have to work hard to do a good job, and we enjoy doing that.

Which projects do you enjoy doing the most?

We take every removal job very seriously. That way, we always give all our customers the best of ourselves. In other words, we enjoy every project. However, there are sometimes projects that are particularly exciting, which we see as an extra challenge. Moving specific (business) equipment requires extra attention and extra care. For example, when we move the contents of a laboratory. Large-scale international removals also give us that extra boost. But actually, we still feel a little uncomfortable with this question. The most enjoyable projects? Those are the projects we do.

How did your removal company come about?

PolderVerhuizingen is a family business. It was founded by brothers Sven and Marco Jongeneel, who came to work in their father Henk Jongeneel's company. They saw opportunities for PolderVerhuizingen with a unique business philosophy: satisfying customers with a pleasant move by employing satisfied removal staff. Everyone happy. Because people work with people and everything is human work. That approach was important from the outset and is still central today. Our company was founded on that philosophy. We want to enjoy ourselves and make our customers happy.

How do you approach innovation?

Innovation is high on our agenda. How can we improve the moving process, how are our customers' needs evolving? How can we continue to respond to these changes? We constantly ask ourselves these questions, which is why innovation is also high on our agenda. We also encourage our removal staff to contribute their ideas and help shape the company. We offer our removal staff plenty of opportunities for training and further education. This not only keeps us up to date, but also provides us with a constant source of input. Our movers represent us to our customers and are our eyes and ears. This allows us to know what is going on and how to continue to respond to customer demand. It is not without reason that we are a recognised training company. You can also see this in the question about sustainability: we are one of the first removal companies to use electric vehicles.

How do you deal with sustainability?

At Polder Verhuizingen, we are very committed to sustainability. We are well on our way to achieving emission-free removals. PV's passenger car is electric and in the autumn of 2023 we will replace two lorries with electric removal vans. We also help our customers to dispose of their waste in an environmentally friendly way. First, we look at which equipment or furniture we can give a second life at the thrift store. What remains is disposed of at municipal waste separation stations in accordance with waste separation standards. At the office, we limit paperwork where possible and only print when there is no other option. We also do not use disposable plastic for coffee, tea or other consumables in our canteen and workshop, and we separate all our waste.

What advice would you give to someone who is about to move house?

Make sure you plan well. Moving house is the same for you as it is for us as a removal company. Without planning, things will go haywire. So take a good look at the schedule. Or if you're outsourcing it, keep a close eye on things. Stress caused by moving house is very common and is mainly due to unforeseen events and things that are forgotten. And these are all the result of poor or inadequate planning. Our golden tip: Plan your move with the utmost care!
